Yes, and why 9 / 14 / 19 / 25 year milestones? This medal was established in 1888, back when odd years must have been all the rage.

Is there a way to have the user input Number of Years (______) and War Service? (___). Then depending on their answer they get the right star or eagle and/or war star?

Of course it's possible! A train wreck worth of code... but anything's possible!

If the full solution would take too long to implement, perhaps an abbreviated version would be quicker.

What if we focused on one appurtenance, e.g., the service stars. You could just let the user decide whether they had the first, second, third award, like other ribbons, and have the proper star appear.

Then maybe a yes/no for the war star could come later, in a future refinement.

You're so close to being finished on the Massachusetts ribbons... Is there anything I can do to help with the Mass. Service Medal Appurtenances?

This seems the last hurdle to completion for Massachusetts.

To Whom Awarded: To Massachusetts National Guard personnel who are called, by Presidential Order to Federal Active Duty (Title 10), on or after 11 September 2001.

Standards: Service for this award must have been performed OCONUS. Service must have been for the sole purpose of and in direct support of a contingency operation in defense of The United States of America and may be awarded after the Soldier or Airman has served 30 consecutive days. The Adjutant General reserves approval authority for determination of what constitutes a “contingency operation”.

Description: The ribbon is a gray background with two outer columns of navy blue which represent the Air Defense and Support (Air National Guard) and two inner columns of olive drab green which represent the Land Defense and Support (Army National Guard). Actual size of the ribbon is 1 3/8” long by 3/8” in height.

Appurtenances: (1) A bronze Service Star, 3/16” in diameter, will be affixed to the service ribbon to identify second and subsequent unit awards. Service Stars will be arranged in a horizontal row with one point up. (2) A Silver Service Star, 3/16” in diameter, will be worn in lieu of five bronze Service Stars and worn to the wearer’s right of any bronze Service Star.

Standards: Service for this award must have been performed in CONUS and may be awarded after the Soldier or Airman has served 30 consecutive days. Hello,

I've added information (above) regarding two new ribbons for the Massachusetts National Guard. (Thanks, BobRusso, for the reminder!)

SSG Asendorf, this might be a simple addition. These two ribbons behave the same as the other Massachusetts ribbons, with star appurtenances. In order of precedence, they go immediately after the Mass. Desert Storm Service Ribbon.

I've been surfing various sites, yours is by far one of the best regarding Guard medals and ribbons by state. I thought I'd seen listed somewhere for Massachusetts the MA Defense Expeditionary ribbon and the MA Defense Service ribbon. When I try to build my rack I do not see them listed on th main page under Massachusetts National Guard. Also when I try to add the Air Force Outstanding Unit award with 6 devices the ribbon does not come up when I try to build my rack? Any suggestions? MSgt D Kaeka.

Make sure the "Your Current or Last Service" block is checked as Air Force. That is at the top of the page where you select the ribbons.

It defaults to US Army and therefore any unit award would not be displayed.
